It's been awhile but I'm back because God of War is coming out in 6 days. This is very exciting news because this game has had a lot of hype. There have been pre-order bonuses and deals advertised before almost every YouTube video I've watched in the last week and this advertisements have been getting me really excite. I haven't pre ordered this game, I rarely do that for any game, but I will definitely purchase it through the PlayStation Store.
What I am most excited about is seeing the integration of Norse mythology in the game. We've heard so much about Greek and Roman mythology through different forms of media that I feel like Norse mythology has been a bit left behind. I also think the series really needed this change of scenery because the old narrative was becoming a bit stale.
I am also really interested in seeing his son's involvement in the game and how important he will be in the plot. I'm sure there will be some great twist involving his son but hopefully nothing too generic. It will also be interesting to see Kratos show emotion towards his son. In my experience with previous games, Kratos never showed any real emotion besides anger and hatred. Will traveling with his son make him more soft in his decisions? It will be interesting to see if that is true.
The gameplay looks like the classic hack and slash gameplay that we are all used to seeing with dramatic boss battles and unique enemies. Metacritic, my go to review site, has given the game a 95/100 which makes me very hopeful that this game will be impressive. I've stayed away from storyline based trailers so that everything will be fresh to me and I can go in blind. I try to do this with most games. I feel that going in blind gives me the best experience when playing a new game. God of War comes out April 20th and I'm very excited to see how the series has evolved and exploring the new world.
